ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Raised in the Pacific Northwest amid the Cascade and Olympic mountains, Anthony Garvin developed a close affinity to wilderness which is embodied in his photography.  Now living in Northern California, the author spends much of his time hiking, skiing, and backpacking in the Sierras, Olympics and Cascade mountain ranges. His experiences have given him a deep appreciation of the grandeur of the environment.  As an environmental attorney, the author has dedicated his life to the protection of the environment and the preservation of wild places. An avid photographer, Mr. Garvin has photographed most of the mountain ranges and National Parks of the world including Alaska, the Alps, Himalayas, Patagonia, and New Zealand. Mr. Garvin tries to convey the beauty and raw power of nature through his images and hopes that readers will come to love wilderness as much as he does, since he believes that people will only protect what they have come to know and love.
